Four games in the last two weeks my opponent has done something clever to freeze my pieces and I end up losing on time. What's up with that? How are they doing? Chess.com needs th fix that glitch.

When you lose your connection, your pieces appear to freeze.

Your connection is maintained separately from the one for your opponent. They can't interfere with your connection.

Report them. Voodoo and telekinesis violate fair play.

Lol I read the rule book and it doesnt mention anything about that so i guess its legal.

Yeah it’s a valid strategy

The fair play policy clearly states:

  • Do not artificially manipulate ratings, matches, or game outcomes
  • Do not interfere with the gameplay of other members

I think we can reasonably interpret voodoo and telekinesis as falling under the rubric of these general guidelines. Of course if someone tries to enforce these policies against you, I'd imagine that they will wish they hadn't.

Your opponents' computers and pieces can't "freeze" your pieces.

You can defrost the freezing by improving your connection.

It's strange but while my pieces are frozen I can message my opponents and they can message me but I can't move my pieces. So I'm not sure it's a connection problem.

Hackers. You need Kaspersky.

Vincidroid

That's one hell of a magic spell.

Buy an IT Tech and a internet tower. If you find anyone who will give those to you, id like to be their friend.

In that case you can try emailing the support team here.

Not to worry, I have been in a similar situation before (though I just took it as another one of those ordinary episodes of poor luck).

conspiracy & paranoia abounds e/o...lookout !

I've got a friend that plays bullet and blitz on here. He swears his opponents are somehow manipulating his clock by some hacking technique causing him to lose on time, as if they make their clock run slower and/or his faster.

I keep telling him to play stop the speed chess addiction. Hahahaha, he deserves it.

Ziryab

Lag switches can manipulate the clock. At one time, these seemed quite common on Free Internet Chess Server. ICC, however, implemented code to prevent their impact. I don’t believe they work on chess.com.

This also happened to me

May be your pieces are locked/covered by their pieces or threaten to capture if you move it. Either, you can sacrifice a piece to move or open the lines or you can declair draw🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
