Is there such a thing?

If you like to regularly do post game analysis but don't want the distraction of scribbling the moves is there such a physical board that will automatically record the moves and time taken for each move?

Sure there is. Look up DGT boards, which are paired with DGT clocks, and are used at many major tournaments.

Yes, or at least it wouldn't be hard to make persay, just put Qcodes on the bottom of each piece and a scanner. But I think the reason it's not a popular demand right now is because the technology isn't advanced enough to be unnoticeable during play. There would at the very least be visible lights somewhere. Once that technology becomes advanced enough where it looks like just a normal chess board it will catch on.

Sure there is. Look up DTC boards, which are paired with DTC clocks, and are used at many major tournaments.

Oh nevermind haha guess they already have decent ones

Thanks fellas.

I googled them up on ebay now I know that they exist and what they are called.

$700-$1000 + postage.

I will pass for time being - at least until my rating improves!

I have heard of DGT boards, but not DTC boards.

You can make one yourself for ~$20 in materials (or less).  I've done it.  It works similar to the DGT e-board.

Not a DGT e-board of couse, but an e-board with similar capabilities which is to record OTB games and later transfer them to the PC.

I made a demo video a while back but unfortunately I didn't script the video and didn't really fully test my e-board.  But even in the video, my e-board did much better than the DGT e-board : )   (The DGT e-board lost connection after move #2, my e-board kept connect though out except it had a paw promotion bug at the end.)

Maybe I'll make another, better demo video if I get some time.

oh, the demo e-board cost a bit more than $20 : )   HOWEVER, I do have one that works the same (except using contacts) that costs very little, which I should demo in the next video.
