Its very rare, but i have seen the TD kick kids out that dont know how to act in public, or how to control themselves.  And its always online players.

The thing I do really miss is helping run scholastic tournaments.  The kids that are adorable are the ones that come up to you after a round 1 loss, and ask: "Do you still get a trophy?"  Their whole day hinges on winning a pile of plastic.  The kids that play for fun are the ones that i i think truly enjoy the game.

I know a guy named Steven who has terrible self control (at least when I was younger). One time I saw the td go up to him before round one, say “Steven, behave yourself” even though he hadn’t done anything yet.

1. Relax and focus on optimizing your relative physical health. Eat as best as you can, sleep at a high quality (and not too little but also not too long), walk or jog, lift weights or do bodyweight exercises, a lot of Russians also swim and I think that would suffice as a substitute for both walking/jogging and for weight lifting or bodyweight training. Identify any culprits of stress and reduce/eliminate them. Goal should be to feel more comfortable in your own skin.

2. Train your usual routine; I think the best training outside of tournament preparation is one that prepares you - in the long term - for tournaments. Alexander Grischuk was asked how much he prepared for a specific tournament, and he said "my whole life".

3. EXTRA: If you have access to your opponent's games, then check them and prepare to be ready to play against what you see them do. Look for weaknesses or holes, that will help ease your nerves so that you know what mistakes you can get away with making and not get away with making. And so that you can strategize how to beat them. As far as strategizing how to beat them goes, you can factor their demographic as well as their play-style. In 2017, I worked with a Balkan grandmaster that passed away. He told me that from his experience, women (almost) always panic and blunder when you play super aggressively! From my own experience, old players blunder against even unsound sacrifices.

Thx

Who me or him? I do not like using such words as "sexist" (or racist for the record) because it lacks a coherent definition and is a tool of manipulating others into feeling guilty and/or making another party look like a saint.

Agreed
