OTB - To look for where oponent is looking

Hi!

I´m new in my chess club and new to playing OTB-games.

I wonder if it is considered to be a dirty trick to look at your opponents eyes and look for where at the board that he/she is looking? Or is it accepted?

Or do you consider it to be a total whaste of time and that you should think "of your own" instead?

Thank you!

Interesting, so this seems to be a factor when playing OTB.

\Focus on the board, and don't hope your opponent will play bad moves unless you're already losing.

It plays no factor in OTB chess past the complete beginner level.

an alternative is to play good moves.

I wear gigantic dark glasses like they do playing poker. Headphones too.

When you're experienced, and equally rated, then you know each other's plans already. The game is who can execute their ideas better. Rarely is a move unpredictable, and calculation isn't done so much from the position on the board, as it is from future imagined positions.

Although I guess it might help if the position is a mess, and you're totally confused and have no idea what to even look at. Maybe then it would help to see where they're looking? Probably you'll still just be totally confused though.
