Pawn Chains?

Do you like playing with them on the board? I do! they add some excitement to the game! do you attack the base or the head of the chain when trying to get rid of it?I attack the base, for two reasons, when your demolishing a building, what do you take away first? the top floor? no! you demolish the bottom and the rest falls down also! another reason is sometimes the base is easier to attack! what are your opinions about pawn chains?

They can be weak if you don't set them up properly...  but they make a great barrier for the opponent to go through!  Obviously, they have to be attacked from the bottom up!!!

I like them out of my way....no just kidding, it depends on if it's an open or closed game really.

The pawn chain might decide if it is open or closed :P

Don't advance your pawns needlessly. You can easily undermine the middle with a well placed pawn break.

but if you can play with pawn chains well, then you will now when and how to protect it

Pawn chains can be devastating, but breaking them is the hard part. There is a number of ways to prevent your opponent from making them, but my personal favorite is doubling your opponent's pawns with bishop/knight exchanges.
