Out of total curiosity on a sidenote...what type of flag do you like the most?

GargleBlaster

Isle of Man has an awesome flag.

It's clearly a troll that just wants attention, and dedicating an entire thread to him is exactly what he wants you to do.

Anyone who's been around on the internet knows to ignore trolls, and to let the admins take care of them. They'll get bored eventually, and find an easier target.

GargleBlaster

The Benin Empire flag is pretty cool as well.

I found invisibleboy's amusement, persistance, and dedication to something so inane pretty funny. It has gotten old, though.

Mexican Flag is pretty cool, with the eagle and the snake:

Meh, Mexico's flag, while cool, is old hat.  Same for the Welsh Dragon, really.

Apparently Mozambique's flag has an AK-47 in it.  That should count for something, right?

Btw, does chess.com have a flag?  Perhaps a contest could be held to make one.

i sleep in a quilt made of flags

That would be pretty interesting!  Is it made out of real pieces of flags, or just a basic quilt with pics of flags?

Doug, you asked if his ip address could be blocked. I asked the same question in another forum recently but was talking about ip addresses of repeat offenders in general, not any one particular person, and Kohai answered by saying they prefer not to block ip addresses because it can block others in the neighbourhood, forget her exact words.

Okay, I'll admit it:  now I'm curious... Smile

Andy, nothing you haven't seen on here before when we get this type of thing happening.

I moved this thread to Off Topics, as it attracted the 'nasties' poster here on one of his previous accounts earlier today. It doesn't need to attract any more attention than it already has.

I don't know what posts we are talking about (most if not all have been deleted sounds like) but no police department in the USA will take a crime report if the only issue is the user exercising his constitutionally protected right to free speech.

And what we've learned recently, is free speech in the USA can included pooping and peeing on Police Cars in public places. So if this guy is posting controversial stuff or things people don't agree with he hasn't committed any crime.

That said, Chess.com can and does retain the right to delete 3rd party content and ban members for exercising free speech in posting controversial stuff or things people don't agree with.

Freedom of Speech to what point? Death threats? Or continuous harrassment? Seen how many young people have taken their lives because of cyber bullying? You said: "no police department in the USA will take a crime report if the only issue is the user exercising his constitutionally protected right to free speech", so the below article is not true?"

bill introduced to the House of Representatives last year would make it against the law to "transmit in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior." Anyone found guilty of this crime could face a fine or a prison term of up to two years.

By chance, did one of your old accounts get the boot due to engine assistance?

And you are a attorney licensed to practice in the USA? Or perhaps someone certified to work in Law Enforcement here in the USA? A US constitutional law scholar? Yeah, that's what I thought.

As stated in my post I didnt know what the content was that this mysterious user had posted, but if you'll read what I said...no law enforcement agency is going to take a report if the only issue is a person exercising their free speech rights, and I stand by that statement at least for now.

The Obama administration labels patriot tea party members as "terrorists"  and legislation recently passed called the NDAA allows the US Military to strike targets at home in violation of the US constitution. They are already flying predator drones over the USA...but as far as I know these drones are unarmed.

Since you mentioned harassment, cyberbulling and death threats...I would agree that some action by law enforcment may be appropriate. But I have seen that sort of content and behavior in the forums that does NOT get addressed by chess.com staff. And that's not ok. That sort of stuff needs to be dealt with swiftly, would you agree?

why do I have to be a law attorney to quote a bill passed? Was just making the point that there is a limit to freedom of speech, even in the U.S.

And to answer your question about staff dealing swiftly with any harrassment that does go on in the public forums, I agree absolutely, and have been saying this for a while. Nip it in the bud and show others it won't be tolerated here. Also it is against site rules to abuse/harrass other members, just like cheating is against site rules. So why ban members for  breaking the site rules by cheating and not ban the members who break the site rules by harrassing others, especially the repeat offenders? If you show you tolerate such  behaviour it will only continue.  On a positive in staff's favour if you report abuse staff DO take action, give a warning, but not ban a member unless the offense was something extreme, like a death threat. But to me we shouldn't have to report abuse or harrassment that staff see/saw  happen. Staff should put a stop to it there and then. But I believe more and  more members have been making complaints about the level of abuse/harrassment in the public forums and staff are stepping up or will step up action against the abusers in the future, or at least I hope so as they should be accountable to enforcing the rules they make/made, all the rules, not just  one.
