Please stop verbal abuse

I am getting sick of all of the verbal abuse that is going on chess.com. I really like this site a lot because it allows me to have fun and learn something everyday, but verbal abuse is a huge problem for me. Just today, somebody said some nasty stuff to me and hurt my feelings a little bit. For the first time, I had to sumbit a ticket for verbal abuse. Please, let's have a peititon to stop any verbal abuse from being out of control. Let's all have fun and try your best. :)

Thanks, and have an excellent day :)

How many posts until someone uses "ad hominem" in this forum?

I cry a lot when people make fun of me here.

@reflectivist sorry to hear that. I would still be on chess.com but less active in playing games. I would suggest going to a real chess club because I am going to a real chess club near my hometown. Hope everything goes well :)

I'm way beyond that now.  I long division hominem, and soon will be working on solids of revolution hominem

@Brasigringo hopefully no one.

@AlCzervik I won't make any fun of anyone. I just want to spread the truth and information out to everyone so they don't get too crazy and verbally abuse others.

In all it's greatness, this site still has its flaws. It gives its members so much liberty to communicate in a variety of ways - unfortunately not every member respects this privilege. As a result, jerks come to the surface. Unless you limit all the features, rude people are going to figure out ways to be rude. But without all the features of this site, it'd be no better than FICS

At the end of the day, breathe in, breathe out, move on and keep playing chess

"Hot topic!"

I love this site too and no one likes hurt feelings. What did you do to provoke the verbal abuse you speak of? Or was the ad hominem attack unprovoked... the work of a sociopathic psychopath?

Avatar of AndyClifton

I'll bet it was a straw man!

Isn't 'verbal abuse' spoken ?!
And what is 'abuse' anyway... If it's 'rude words' then dtrasatti (above) should check the etymology of the word 'jerks' (above) .

Some people need  a thicker layer of skin and stop making mountains out of molehills. All the horrors assailing the world -and this internetcreation- and you have nothing better to complain about than rudeness!

Red Hell and Bloody Death!!

@timbeau - hey I'm just trying to be "relevant, helpful & nice" not all etymologically precise. Sorry!

No mate..."Just today, somebody said nasty stuff to me and hurt my feelings..." NO. NO. NO!! You decided to be hurt! Feelings are not facts!

Or am I not getting the subtle humour from the violently-named goose who wrote the above quote...??!

@timbeau this happens to everyone at somepoint during their time on chess.com. Some people can get over it like you. However, some people like me just hate it completely and this needs to stop. Either be more mature or get out. Your choice.

So you've never had your feelings hurt?
