i was just wondering if anyone can explain how they award the points in the blitz. like how do they determine if i win 8 or 9 points even if i’ve just ran the clock out?

Hey @username19_o1 👋

Great question! The number of rating points you gain or lose in Blitz (or any time control) is based on the Elo rating difference between you and your opponent, not how you win (like running out the clock vs. checkmate).

✅ If you beat someone higher rated, you'll gain more points (sometimes 10+).
⚠️ If you beat someone lower rated, you'll gain fewer points (like 5–9).
❌ And if you lose to someone lower rated, the point loss is usually bigger.

So, whether the win came from flagging them, checkmate, or resignation, the system just sees it as a win and applies the math from there.

Hope that helps! ♟️
