How many states are there with the prefix "New" in the USA ?

None

"new" is not a prefix. there is no US state called New-York, NewYork, New-Hampshire, NewHampshire and so forth. The case of the missing hyphen and the missing concatenation.

Oh this is a forum for questions. So my question is:

Who gives a s***t  how many states there are in the USA with the prefix "New"?

For that matter, how many counties does england have?

on another forum topic somebody was bragging about their vehicle 0 - 60 in 3 seconds, not so unusual...

but WOW, philosopher to foulmouth in 11 posts - thats a turnaround worth mentioning

Whatever gave you the idea that philosophers cannot be foulmouthed? Try aristotle.

What is the meaning of life ?

try Marx v Bakunin polemics :)

Q)What is the meaning of life ?

easy one. Existence precedes essence. No a priori meaning of life. Meaning of life is what you choose to give it. By actions (or lack thereof).

hey njy, had no beef with your post, if you want to join us down here in the gutter, feel free. i simply felt that with your initial post being so very upper echelon the next was relatively much more trailer park. i am in fact in agreement to the content but it was also a bit harsh on the youngster who just asked his question using slightly incorrect terminology. the comparison was as a result of your own high standards previously set.

scariest aspect is that some of them are not so hard at all, we just don't like the answers

 exactly.

Ah hA!  I see now. Trying to get us to answer rhetorical questions. Sneaky.  Very sneaky. ;).

I am an activist, not an armchair philospher. My real-life work now is mostly in the gutter with people who live in the gutter because they have no other place to live in.

Have you heard of the term 'declassing oneself' - in the context of left-activism? Popularised by Marxists but holds true for anarchists like me also.

Existence precedes essence... BARF. Sartre is suuuuuch a hack.

Pay no attention to Norma's flippant answer to the meaning of life question. No self-respecting philosopher would treat a question like that so brusquely - not that it is an easy question to answer, to be sure, but I'd hate for her to mislead any of the young ones with her caustic existentialism or anarchy.

If I was driving at night at the speed of light, and turned on the head lamps, would I be able to see where I'm going?
Avatar of ADK

I got a similar Question:

1. Will you be able to see a Shadow if you go at the Speed of Light.

{Would your Shadow be able to follow you at that Speed}

ADK

New England.  No, wait, that's a collection of 5 states.

New Orleans.  No, wait, is that a state?

New York.

I'm geography challenged.   I'd be impressed if someone can name them all without looking it up.

How many cities can you name in California that begin with "San"?  :).  Haha, there's a lot.  I've lived in 3.

ADK and Aristokatt's questions can be answered simultaneously, insofar as the mistake in both is the idea that an object, like yourself or a car, can theoretically be thought of being accelerated in such a way. As far as I understand it, the amount of energy required to accelerate any mass to that degree approaches infinity the closer the mass is to actually reaching that speed. Were it possible that we could, and we figured out a way to keep a human alive during such transit, I'm certain there would be really bizarre perceptual results - sight would be all but impossible - in fact, the very concept of "shadow" would cease to make sense, because everything would be occuring at such a speed as that the light you'd be bringing it would be far to scattered to percieve anything coherent - it would all swim. I'd even imagine very unexpected results with the individual's experience of time - like, time dilation to the degree of "standing still" in eternity, in a single perpetual moment, preserved.
