Post Game Analysis? (Steps & Software?)

I have recently picked back up playing chess. I learned as a kid, but never played seriously. I am now wanting to spend some time and effort to improve. I am reading through some books and trying to play as much as possible.

I have read on here of the benefits of reviewing your previous games. I have started doing this, and it has been helpful.

Up to this point (I joined chess.com), I have been using the "computer analysis" software that is available on this site.

Is there a better program I can buy that will give me more benefits and options that this site's program?

I have no clue if using the website's anayslis is respected or how it compares with other options...

So if anyone has some advice and recommendations, that would be great...

Also, what type of steps do you go through when reviewing a game? I just want to get all I can out of the time spent doing it!

No expert here, but the experts always say to first analyze without software and only after you've identified everywhere you could have done better do you fire up an engine.  And yes there is better software than the chess.com although it's much better than it used to be (for many months it had no opening book and made pretty silly suggestions).  Many previous threads.  These should get you started.  Anything piques your interest, just do a "search forums" like I did to get this link:
