eu sei que só tática não vai me fazer melhorar, o negócio é que depois que eu parei, eu comecei a melhorar, entende?
Puzzles made my chess worse
for months I was really into puzzles and was trying to get my rating to 3000, which I managed to do but overall my chess wasn't progressing. Then I decided to search if too many tactics could make my chess worse because I had tried a some things to progress (such as taking a break for a few days) and there were a few people relating to this. As soon as I stopped doing puzzle I managed to get to 1800, and as soon as I got back to puzzles, I dropped. Why is this? I've been stuck in this same rating range for around a year (even before this account was made) and I had no ideia the puzzles were keeping me away from progress. Does anybody else can relate to this? Is there an explanation?
It's like saying taking medicine is making your condition worse whilst continuously going to places and doing public activities that get you infected.
yeah, i find curious how the ratings are so different, I would spend like 15 minutes on each puzzle if needed, so I guess I was really trying
Puzzles here are a promotional tool. A gimmick. It’s history will surprise. New players are finally figuring it out. Play puzzle rush and exercises on the clock for entertainment purposes only. The puzzles are positions with but a single solution- usually an immediate winning or drawing move is available. Playing your games as such - looking for knockout blows in every position leads to destruction/ as the OP has learned. Rarely is seen duplicate positions in your games. Learning a solution to one complex position does not translate directly to playing the best move in another. In the abstract- yes, repeated patterns become ingrained. But for learning tools directed as such. - there are far better ways to study.
