I agree. I beat someone with a rating of over 1900 (very lucky!) but another player slightly higher lost by timeout, and now his game against me is displayed. I'd much rather my game where my superior play won be shown.
"Best win" carries little meaning

Everyone always talks about all the time out wins that happen on this site and sadly I have yet to see any. I have had to actually win any game I get credit for. I am starting to think I am getting the shaft on easy wins.

A problem that could arise if you don't count time-outs for best win, a a higly rated player who is clearly lost might time out just becasue he doesn't want to be shown as somebody's best win. I know this sounds awfuly petty, but it could happen.

Einstein, I am in the same boat, I've had about three games won on time. I just simply think a best win comes from CM or Resigning. But, really it doesn't matter because I'm having fun, but this is just something I felt I wanted to throw out in the open to everyone.

Why do they show a person's best win when most people get theirs from a timeout? I think they should have the slot for best win through resignation or check mate. What do you all think?
My best win came from my opponent being disconnected so I agree. However, it's nice to know. On the other hand, highest rating achieved has the potential to be useful. It's a shame that it's not since chess.com includes games from the provisional period when ratings fluctuate wildly.

Maybe the answer is allowing self-selection of what the best win is - you can choose either the win against the highest rated player or just your favourite win

FICS has the concept of a journal. It can be public or private and you can put your favorite games there (your own or others). It's a nice feature and chess.com will probably have something similar eventually.

maybe instead of showing opponent name in "win" could show win type; E.g. CHECKMATE ,OR TIMEOUT
Also could show best result - in my record this would be a draw with a near 2000 player !

It's just odd to see a 1050 player with a high mark of 1700, and best win against 2000... must be a lot of timeouts ???

socket2me how right you are. it is odd and very annoying to invest quality time and effort against what you would consider a veritable opponent, only for them to walk off, leaving you with a board full of pieces. AND having to stare at their name for ages after, as if it were some sort of accomlishment! Some good ideas from various here to rectify this.

I've been playing, rather down with opponents compared to my own rating, and my best "quality" win came against a high 1400 opponent. I was actually pleased to view the best win because I played well. But you're right wayna, timeout best wins are empty to me, and like you said above, they're stuck there for a while.

Here's mine: http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=8226384
It may be on time, but I thoroughly won...

And another point perhaps not generally recognised- scores shown are resultant scores, not the score you beat. This is because of it being very difficult to programme otherwise.Perhaps name is needed for game identification purposes.
