Reaching 2,000 , Where Do I Go From Here ?

After 1 year and three months of discovering this game I’ve now reached 2000 rapid . What books do I study which will take me further ? Should I pay for a coach ? Does me starting at the age of 23 automatically hinder me from becoming a GM ? Plainly , how do I take my game to the next level

@caffeineed All hes doing is asking where to go from now. He’s doing great. We don’t want to hear your complaints. Stop being a sore loser.

I'm close... I think you will probably need to improve your endgames..

@Caffeineed you couldn’t be further from the truth . I have a massive list of questions which I cannot find the answers to on YouTube and google , also just because you reach 2,000 doesn’t mean you will stay there. Without more insight from the higher rated opponents I wish to defeat , there’s no way I will advance :3 as the other guy said , don’t be a sore loser bro 🤔 you may feel I’m bragging , but I feel lightyears away from actually being ready !

First of all, congratulations on this amazing milestone of 2000+ chess.com rapid rating happy.png

I've been over 2000 rapid on here for a few years now (minus random drops and getting it back again). I'd say that 2000+ rating is where you begin really starting to fix your weaknesses and specialize more on your personal chess strengths and playstyle.

You are correct that 2000 rapid chess.com rating is really far from being a titled player (and especially GM!), but you improve similarly to how you got here already; it will just be a bit tougher and progress a bit slower is all.

Feel free to check out my YouTube channel. I hope to help not only beginners, but also intermediate to advanced players as well happy.png

"Does me starting at the age of 23 automatically hinder me from becoming a GM?".

Not at all. You just need someone to work for YOUR living, and you working hard on the game every day for the next 5 years, at a bare minimum. If you do the above, then you do have some dim chances of becoming a GM.

@Mazetoskylo Nah I’ve got a wife and a 2 year old daughter I provide for right now ; I own a business , and though I work everyday , my living is secure for life . First mistake in chess is assuming everyone is governed by the same rules as you . And you say 5 years , bet ! Challenge accepted.
