I’ve been following the tactics rating discussion for a few months now, climbed up to 5000 and then all the way back down to 2000 without ever complaining! 🙂 There was definitely a period where farming high ratings was way too easy, so the adjustments by the Chess.com team were absolutely necessary! Thanks!
I’m just wondering whether there’s been another update in the past few weeks? It feels like incorrect puzzles aren’t being punished as hard anymore. Sometimes I gain around 12 points for a correct puzzle but only lose about 4 for a wrong one.
TL;DR: It currently feels closer to a normal ELO formula which might encourage players to solve puzzles faster?
There hasn’t been any changes in the rating formula but there’s some work around streaks, that some members may be seeing, that will give higher rated puzzles after longer streaks. I think it may only impact the Standard difficulty setting, but I’m not 100% certain.
You got more points because the puzzle was rated higher than your current puzzle rating. Under Standard difficulty, the average rating of puzzles is 200-300 lower than your current rating normally.
Speed is not a part of the rating algorithm.
