Relationship between Chess rating and I.Q?

As I mentioned in another topic about IQ, one of the most terrible dictators that humanity suffered considered those who shared his same visions more smart and intelligent and superior than others that not share their vision.Is a dangerous think, I opine ,that only people of determinated sectors or specific study can be asociated as unique authorities to explain what inteligence is ...because inteligence is on all areas undiscriminatedly ! ...Some sectors of our society cut possibilities to people when sectorizing by diferent values,numbers,or preconcepts.

Chess players think playing chess means you have a big IQ, when in reality all they have is big disgusting vile ego. Since playing on here I have come to despise people who play chess.

As chess players, we make the mind move forward towards future moves. Why so much insistence on linking chess with IQ? What is the result of that? It is clear that chess can helps the mind and great players can be considered intelligent in "some way" ,and thats is not a proof that chess player can be good in other intelectual areas only to play well chess… but making a specific numerical association can only add pressure, I think. It is like putting a structured limitation.Idealism of Elo is also idealism.Adoration of unvisible concept. Searching for something that transports us to another reality, escaping the ordinary world to fly to fantasy concepts.To gain social acceptance and validation, because perhaps as children many of us did not receive validation from our parents? And that trauma grows and now society is an exacerbated symbol of the demand of parents to us to be better and better, a inner monster that is always dissatisfied, looking for ways to demonstrate self-validation?

Measuring roles of human variables, like intelligence and others, in our performance in different activities is interesting I think atleast.

It's a common way of thinking, that's why. make a simple google search, you see a head cogs in it.

my opinion; game is obviously related with intelligence but it is more related with memory heavily. this is like stockfish vs. database engine.

stockfish: evaluates positions and gives scores by calculating..

database engine: evaluates positions by finding them in previous games and scores them by seeing related games results.. this engine simply makes statistics.

my take on masters; they are more likely database engines.. and memory plays bigger role in chess.

Still every chess game contains unique positions where you have to solve problems and make decisions applying your knowledge and previous experience in a new, unique situation. Also the learning process involves understading concepts of almost unlimited complexity, that simply memorizing would limit you substancially. Intelligence plays a part in most activities that we do but I think it's fair to say chess is a game that has alot of fundamentals that intelligence addresses well.

At that age an IQ score is a direct ratio of their performance at puzzles which are as non culturally related as possible (which tends to exclude chess, which is largely learned) against the expected performance of an absolutely average child of the same age.

That is translated into an expected age for the subject. Therefore if a child of 9 has an IQ of 133, that means that their expected age or performance age is 9 + 1/3(9) = 12, meaning that the child of exactly nine years old and an iq of 133 has the expected performance of an exactly average child of exactly 12 years old.
