@OP: Excellent! I'm glad that you're excited about improving, and I hope you will find greater success. I know that playing slower games drastically helps my rating. I think much more efficiently when I can take my time. Some occasional games at blitz controls, though, are good for drilling my faster-thinking skills.

I been playing chess for awfully long time, my interest goes up and down, the reason I lose interest in the game is I plateau quickly. As we speak I played 1,185 games on this site, 1,182 of them were blitz (10 min), my rating is 1,135 as we speak, it could go up into 1200's, it could also drop to 1000's, however I'm unable to become a 1,300 blitz player. I read many times here on this forum that I should play slow time controls, I decided starting today my main time control will be 30 minute games, maybe this will improve my chess, I'm just unable to play quick, quality chess, at times I had tactical attacks I was proud off, but too many times I lost to lower ranked players by failing to oversee a 2 piece attacking my king kind of checkmate. I will play sloooooooower.
