SCID vs PC

Thank you.

I have and use the Windows version (version 4.11) and in my BIN folder I also have a PIECES folder.  In this folder are currently 15 different font.txt files.  (font_alphat.txt, font_fritz.txt, font_uscf.txt, etc.)  Upon startup, the program loads these fonts, as evidenced by the startup information:

User Pieces: reading C:\Program Files (x86)\Scid vs PC-4.11\bin\pieces
Loaded file font_adventurer.txt
Loaded file font_alpha.txt
Loaded file font_alpha2.txt
Loaded file font_burnett.txt
Loaded file font_chesscube.txt
Loaded file font_fritz.txt
Loaded file font_habsburg.txt
Loaded file font_habsburg_OS.txt
Loaded file font_hastings.txt
Loaded file font_kingdom.txt
Loaded file font_merida1.txt
Loaded file font_merida2.txt
Loaded file font_uscf.txt
Loaded file font_uscf_gold.txt
Loaded file font_zurich.txt

Lads Im still having problems analyzing games.

After going to tools tab and starting analysis and then setting my preferences in the annotation window I hit the blue button to let the game play through and be analyzed.

When the games is finished I then click in the pgn window but there are no annotations or analysis given. The pgn just shows the moves the game.

Can anyone help

manichessrookie

For annotation of game by engine in scid or scid vs pc, click in engine window the annotate icon.

A window will pop up on clicking it. U can select how you want to analyse. Only whites game, or both players, and other options.
here is a example from one of my game, how the final pgn will look like after completion of engine annotation.
Hope this was helpful

Just made a much improved version of the good ole Fritz pieces.  This one is called FritzSWS (shaded, wood texture, shadow).  You can grab it from my website:

http://gorgonian.weebly.com/

click downloads then SCID vs. PC.  Place the txt file in the bin\pieces folder and it should be loaded automatically.

MrEdCollins

Your website's looking good.

MrEdCollins

Looks good:

Do all of the chess piece fonts on your website support the new, larger board size?

MrEdCollins

Ah, I see this new Fritz sws font does not, so I'm assuming the answer will be, "not yet."

DunnoItAll

I included a 90 and 100 size in the sws set.  But no, I haven't changed most/any of the others yet.

MrEdCollins

Hmmm... the sws pieces look blurry at my largest size.  Maybe this size is larger than 100, and I didn't know it.

DunnoItAll

Didn't really know what sizes to add, to be honest.  Nothing larger than 80 works for me, anyway.

cortman

Thanks for all the pieces you've made so far, DunnoItAll. They really look professional!

DunnoItAll

Thanks.  Happy to do it.  I'm pretty OCD about how my chess boards look.

The sizes now supported are 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 65 70 75 80 90 100 110 120 130 140 150 160

Sizes of > 80 are scaled x 2 from a smaller size.. except you can do them properly in your custom pieces if you wish.

can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to analyze games with scid vs pc so that I get a report at the end of the analysis that is like Chess.com analysis

Thanks

Do you have an engine installed?

stockfish

Cool, I have Scid, not Scid vs PC, but I suppose it's about the same.

Make sure you are in the starting position, before whites first move

Click on the engine icon (locmotive), it should give a list of installed engines.

Select Stockfish

Analysis window should open

Click the 'Annotate' button at the bottom (notepad with pencil)

Use default options, or make changes if you want (I usually change threshold to .5)

Click OK

The analysis is nothing like chess.com's, it's much, much better :)
