Serious question about why Chess.com ratings are so different from Fide ELO?

I’m genuinely confused about why these ratings would be so different? Why not make them basically the same? What are the factors impacting this?

Thank you 😀

Different rating system, different pools of players, and a lot more games played online than ever get played in OTB rated events. All those are going to impact what ratings are.

Also, rating values are not a direct measure of strength or knowledge but of performance within a playing pool. You can have similar things in isolated playing regions where similar ratings are different strengths.

You have one trick ponies. If you are at your chess club, you can figure them out and play something different. Online, it's not the case. They can all be one trick ponies.
