Should I keep playing chess?

The OP is lying. FIDE's database is quite public and searchable and there's no player that meets his (or her) description. A US junior giving a FIDE rating and no USCF just screams, "hi, I'm making sh*t up I don't know about." (Anyway, I know he's making it up because I'm a member of SEAL Team 6, and I have access to databases the rest of you don't.)

But that doesn't mean the story itself impossible. There are youngsters who improve very quickly. I played a twelve year old three years ago  (in a rated quad in a tiny hole in the wall chess club in Brooklyn, first he beat me, then his lower rated dad beat me: Boy, it sucked for me.) and he was just below 2100... I just checked his USCF and it's 2400+, he's the number two 15 year old in the US! From 2100 to 2400 in three years is damn good. Go Alex O. *(I'm feeling better about my loss, too.)

Kasparov's _first_ FIDE rating was over 2500 IIRC! LOL! And there's that Ukrainian kid whatzizname who's 2500 something and got to expert level, or master or something utterly ridiculous just watching a chessprogram screen saver!

I've said this before: If you wish to claim ANY rating in the forums of Chess.com, then you will be called out on that rating. Chess players LOVE analysing things!Laughing

you'll be suprised how fast someone can learn chess...

I know a kid who started (i insist on started, he didn't knew the game before) playing at late 9, he got hooked and he have early 11 now and he his at 2200 rating, playing rather well against GM, IM and fide master. and he won a young world tournament in bresil. all that in less then 2 years! how do I know that? I lost to that guy (yes I said I lost to a 11 years old boy in public...) so I was willing to understand him a bit.

2 years is four times longer than 6 months. No-one is denying that such a rate of improvement is possible, just highly highly unlikely.

As uhohspaghettio alluded to, some aspects of his story just don't add up. As JG27Pyth mentioned, there are no 14 year old American players with a FIDE rating of 1920. Of the 14 year olds with a FIDE rating in the 1900-2000 range, most of them got their first rating well over 6 months ago, and those who didn't have a USCF rating for a number of years.

It's bullshit, pure and simple.

Look at his date of birth. It's 1990.

How many 14 year olds do you know who were born in 1990?

I'm glad i didn't come on this forum talking about my 2315 rating, which has been in a huge dip since I lost my glasses. Really, it's hard enough having opponents tell me i can't check with the king.

I don't know about chess, but I can guarantee you're the only 14 year old on earth born in 1990!

Not far off if you're using Martian years....

Just one of several inconsistencies:  (I play Blitz, because I honestly cannot take 3 day games, as I have a busy life as a accountant)

Yet you were born in 1990 and are, paradoxically, only 14.

Not to mention that you have lost only 3 games out of 35...a 91.43% win or draw ratio. Please advise...with which engine do you play?

There is an obvious answer to the question of how he could have gotten so awesome at chess so quickly, and how he could be 14 years old despite 22 years having passed at his birthplace:

He was abducted by aliens, who took him for a ride at close to the speed of light (so time was passing slower for him during his ride than it was for us), and they also altered his brain to give him superior learning ability and gave him lessons while he was away.

johnnyrocco

just several legit. questions. I am pretty new to this site and not a great player, but i was wonder what peoples' opinions were:1- what is the reason for OP? attention or as one alluded to to precipitate coaching?( iwould never have though of that) 2- how is person playing, ie are they reallt good, or using engine?

just wondering what people think

Bodhiwan
I'm wondering the same as johnnyrocco, after reading some posters observations. Not that I haven't come across trolling before, I'd just figure in a chess community things would be a bit more mature. But I'm new here too.

Say what you like, but my only point is, that if one has the dedication to do something, then one must pursue it.

So you seem to be answering your own question...right? Wink

Well, you may be a whiz at chess, but you've got a lot to learn about proper hatred procedures.

Keep playing Chess and dont neglect school, a few hours a week, say 6hrs,   doing serious chess and then getting  back to your school books. You might have 7 to 10 years before becoming  a GM  unless your intend to become a chess monk.
