If the craven are given a takeback request button, I want a button that blows a raspberry.

i think every game should end in a draw, it's not fair to have someone win because some people are naturally better at chess

Understood, and, hey, ... if it weren't for hyperbole and misrepresentations, everyone would commit suicide right this second.
There is nothing - nothing - in chess more contemptible than asking to take back a move.
Maybe not resigning in an overwhelmingly lost position!
Again, this site does have a takeback mode for training purposes. Those games aren't rated.
If you want to take back a move in a rated game, just hit "resign".
I don't believe a take back move button would be advisable. Certainly when playing face to face, it's not quite right to ask to take back a move.
Any ways, we're getting off topic with silly buttons. I think the OP brings up a good topic and I stick to my original statement.
I never met a remorseful troll before !
I'm not a professional.
Perhaps a "take back rule" may work with unrated live chess games, but should not be allowed or adopted into rated live games.
I would rather resign than requesting it. There is no shame in resigning. It just means the position is not playable anymore.
But requesting to take back a move is childish. It's just like blindfold the opponent and tying their hands with a gun to the head.
Why not request your opponent to resign immediately since he/she can't see and can't make a move? If not, there is a gun pointing to the head.
It's like asking a boxer to pretend KO at certain round.
I just can't keep laughing about the subject.
It's called a fingerfehler.
Don't touch the piece if you don't intend to move it.
Such a "take back request" button would be abused just as the "draw offer" button. Players would use it to gain time/distract their opponent, by pressing same repeatedly.
Well people play with different agreements or standards depending on various factors, including what's at stake. I've played plenty of over the board games where people have waived up the touch-it, move-it rule.
And it wouldn't necessarily be abused like a draw offer, because one could be limited to pressing the button and if the opponent moves or declines, that's that, through the miracle of software engineering and design.
U have got to be kidding w/ "take-back button"......
Not really. I just wanted to see the different opinions / thoughts on it.
You're misquoting me, and omitting the 'request' part. It was more like giving players the ability to agree to a taken back move such as in an informal OTB game where that happens sometimes.
Sorry, not looking for world war 3.The idea "take back button" is just pointless..what would u do ,replay every mistake or over-looked move ? Chess is built on someone doing just that ! G.M.s make errors. Not so obvious but still a mis-take. Some thing like pawn opposition in end-games count on one players error for there too be winner... no?
