Baburin is the definitive source on the IQP, but it is too expensive for almost all of us. Other sources that contain a decent amount of discussion:

Pawn Structure Chess, by Soltis

Chess Structures: A Grandmaster Guide, by Mauricio Flores Rios

Complete Chess Strategy, by Pachman

Understanding Pawn Play in Chess, by Marović

Winning Chess Middlegames, by Sokolov

Look at karpov's games

@DeirdreSkye is correct about Sokolov's excellent treatment of the IQP. Of the sources listed in my earlier post, it is the best.

Note that understanding IQP positions also requires study of its possible descendants: the isolated pawn couple and hanging pawns. Some authors call both of those structures hanging pawns, but the basic point remains the same: the IQP undergoes a change in strategic character if (assuming White has the IQP) Black takes the N on c3 and White retakes with bxc3.

I left an important structure transformation out of my last post. If it’s White to move in the diagram in post #7, Nxd5 followed by ...exd5 produces a double IQP structure. Again, the strategic considerations of the position are changed.

Sokolov's "Winning chess middlegames" is a really excellent book for  the most important pawn structures. He examines only a few but he really goes deep and his examples are some of the best games played in the specific pawn structures.

I can send you Sokolov's and Baburin's books in pdf form(if I can find in which extrnal hard drive I have them).
