Stop the witch hunt for Hans Niemann!

I mean... I don't even watch them when they're wearing nice suits. I have to say there's even less incentive when it's a naked out of shape guy tongue.png

To those who are perplexed about Hans Niemann's rapid rise in rankings and believe he must be cheating, please explain how he went from an 1172 ELO to 1800 within the year of 2013 at the age of . . . ten?  Must have been cheating right?

LOL I went from 1400 to 1900 FIDE in 2 months a year ago. I was 17 and am not cheating

Looks more like 2 years to me.

Anyway, that's because you were underrated. There are kids who actually went from about 800 to 1800 in 1 year. Not just in rating, but also skill.

Eight pages of mostly humour which is and irony in itself for chess forums. There is no Witch Hunt whatsoever. There is a deep desire to separate what is Human Chess and Engine Derived Chess but specifically AutoChess. I make the differentiation because (I won't reveal my age) ICC dashers-era using Auto 232 the doors have been open for someone to misuse (Cheat!) by not having to ponder and let the engine do it for you. Hans has admitted to doing one or a variation of it and it is clear that it is more than one time so probably many. Why? Because taking a shortcut is easier than going through the grind. But having over 75% accuracy from lines that to the best of my knowledge are only available in CTG or the likes developed by Shnapp and/or Neomen  and then you casually play that on 3/0 games is not luck.  I haven't even touched on the games that show 100% accuracy because those are just beyond my understanding. I won't even try to make a relation between Delugy and Hans either. This is far from a Witch Hunt. If Hans comes out and he says I've Progged plenty, I've toggled plenty and I've been so frustrated that I took a shortcut maybe that would be a starting point.

Praise whatever you like to praise. The witch hunt is soon over!!! FIDE will appoint a "panel" of three unnamed persons. They will probably be named when after FIDE has decided what their conclusion will be. Which I guess will be A. No prof and B. what the FIDE General has already said. That Magnus could have handled the situation differently. And Kasparov agrees :-o When did that happen? Yes, I have unlimited trust in FIDE, well guessed. So the witch hunt is soon over and we can spend a couple of weeks discussing how Magnus should have handled the situation. Which would, by the way never have occurred if he had done nothing :-)) Praise FIDE.

What I find interesting about the Fair Play Chairperson is that she has a Master's in Criminology, and did her doctorate on "Cheating in Sports".

This whole investigation is right up her alley. Curious to see where it all goes.

"Magnus is a sore loser and would not be the first time he throws a temper tantrum"

People keep saying this, but it's obviously not true. Magnus has lost plenty of chess games, some of them to up-and-coming youngsters, and I can't recall a single time when he has even hinted that his opponent didn't win fairly

Or threw a temper tantrum.

From what I've seen Magnus is the opposite of a sore loser. He is known for his patience. I agree, he loses a lot. As do all chess players. He probably doesn't like losing, but he is very accustomed to it. But he never throws a fit. Ever.

Which I suppose is why so many people say this instance is unprecedented. It's never happened before. I don't see how something can be both unprecedented and happens often.

That comment by Hans might come back to haunt him. Especially if all his chess is looked at in detail over the last 2 years by the fide cheating investigation team.

Try using Q-tips to remove the wax.

I've got one word of advice for Hans.

Decaf.

So…where are the little voices coming from?

DreamscapeHorizons

And here's Magnus raging.

MaetsNori

"Magnus Carlsen Throws Marshmellow (sic) at David Howell" is such a ridiculous title for a chess video.

Like, are players supposed to read that and think, "Ooh. Marshmallow throwing? This I've got to see!" lol

DreamscapeHorizons

Yes.

I had to watch it. I just couldn't go on with my day without seeing it.
