The Blind Dude on the Second Floor
actually he's just a regular guy that was forced to make do against enormous odds, and the cruel twists of fate, like Beethoven's deafness, John Milton's encroaching blindness, Leonardo Da Vinci's gayness, Bobby Fischer's manic episodes, Oscar's continual disregard for Felix's demand for neatness

... Oscar's continual disregard for Felix's demand for neatness
Didn't Oscar struggle with a trash-can fixation? Or was that someone else? Haven't seen Sesame Street in a long time.
Holy flame is referring to the old 70's sit-com The Odd Couple; starring Oscar Madison (Jack Klugman) and Felix Unger (Tony Randall) one a sports writer, the other a photograoher, one a micromanaging neatnick, the other a let it all hang out slob, when Felix's wife throws him out of the house, Felix takes refuge with his old friend Oscar. can these two polar opposite men learn to live together without driving each other crazy? )and then hey show felix in front of their building spiking up a cigar off the sidewalk that oscar had carelessly hurled down.)
This blind guy Jose doesnt need a blindfold to play blindfold chess. He cant see his own face in the mirror. Now he picked up on my love of chess and he is starting to learn how to play without a board, all in his head. He's just starting out but the fact that he can pretty much do it already is both astonishing and heart warming to me. Talk about putting your heart into something! I like to watch his face behind those big dark glasses as sometimes he fishes about for a little help. "That was a knight at e2" he might say," is that right Holy Flame?" This guy is no spring chicken either well into his forties. Sometimes he visits my apartment with some superb greenery (never does say where he gets it). He was enthralled by the sound of me and David playing 5 minute blitz: slapping that clock and cursing up a storm; playing Beethoven and smoking up a tempest of great greenery. This blind guy is determined to learn how to play never having had the use of his eyes. This guy is the heroic type in my opinion. What do u think Joe?
