The confidence factor

A huge part of playing and getting better at chess is confidence... I can say without a doubt that going from 350 to 1300 was based on 50% confidence, I'd be nowhere near where I am If I did't have this confidence.. which some prefer to call stubbornness in my case

Hi, I'm @WSama, and some of you may know me. I've been running an experiment here on chess.com called the Blogadook, and you're invited. Some of you might wonder why I'm doing this, and the simple answer is 'chess science'. I assure you that this is not a prank of any sorts, so please participate with the intention of contributing or educating yourself. Thank you.

chess science bares no relevance in this topic
I believe it does, to a certain degree. You see, the blog discusses 'chemistry', and I'm sure that you yourself wouldn't want to deny the link between 'chemistry' and confidence, now, would you?

Can there be chemistry in online chess though?
I personally think so.
I mean -- I still get some intense nerves sometimes in certain positions. Also, I find myself in a constant battle to remain confident when playing chess online. I find that I usually lose when I'm lacking confidence, so I have to shoot that up somehow. I guess for me my game play relies quite heavily on my mood.
Question is -- why do I battle with confidence? ...it's just the fear of losing. So I try to throw that out the window.
Point is, I think there's plenty chemistry online.

And as for chemistry with my opponent, yes. We might not be sitting right across from each other, but their moves are striking, if the opponent is good that is, challenging enough to create a stir.
