In may 2007 or so, and we had the staff members joining back them , I would not consider them members

Mr. Wall closed his own account, then returned as @minichess and is stil active. As @billwall he had been one of the biggest content contributors.

Really? I thought you got a gray X if you closed your own account instead of the dramatic red do not enter sign.
I specifically remember mentioning his leaving to Erik at the time...I'm almost 100% sure it was voluntary. I suspect what happened with the red x is that sometimes a staff or mod with open a self-closed account for some reason (some things can't be ascertained in a closed account) and then reclose it. When it's reclosed, it automatically shows up as if for abuse. Often what you see isn't what you got.
I could have joined in 2007, but at the time CC was made I was only 6...
