I understand the idea, there's always a time scramble at the end of blitz games and countless times the side with the advantage either times out or blunders in a hurry. In those games it feels like even if there was a 5 second delay, the game could be won. I do believe that time delay should always be present in OTB tournaments, but on chess.com there are all kinds of options including ones with time delay.
Increments are necessary, as in 3 min blitz, if u have 2 seconds left, unless the DTA is under 20 moves and u pre-move every move, u lose.
I usually dont have a problem getting a 5|5 or 10|10 game around here, unless I want to play in a tournament.
When you look at the tournaments, they all have no increment. I find that weird. Why bother playing a 10 minute thinking game if you are not allowed to finish? How about some 10|5 tournaments or 5|5.
It's my opinion that any chess without the use of an increment should be called a variant. While I understand the time constraints, business constraints, and cheating implications of having more time - it is just silly to see anything with a " | 0 " at the end.
Please add an increment to more tournament games. 3|0 or 5|0 or even 10|0 makes no sense to me.
I would rather play 0|5 than any of the above. In fact, why not have some 0|? tournaments. That would be much more respectable than the current set up.
