Progress will not necessarily be linear… you’ll have ups and downs. When you start getting frustrated, take a break.

don't listen to those who don't want you to be good at chess

chess is not easy but you can get better!

I've a similar problem, but I am getting back on track. I don't believe this is the greatest suggestion because I am a beginner at chess. After playing for a few weeks, I imagine that most beginning chess players experience this. I would advise continuing to study, do puzzles, and watch chess videos (I recommend watching Gotham Chess and Hikaru). Just keep doing those three things, and I'm confident you'll improve your knowledge and understanding in chess. I believe in you and I assume others that have seen this comment do too.

this is my last comment on this topic.

if you feel that you are getting worse at chess, then just stop playing

Because you are too relevant and kind. It's important to cheat online and to troll. Try and make the world a hate filled place. Remember it's all about being successful online. So just try to ruin chess for as many people as possible. If you can annoy just a few people at chess you are on your way to being a 6000+ plus rating at 10 second bullet.

In response to the O.P., in that case you should probably take a break from playing.

You're fatigued. Happens to me if I play too much and don't take breaks.

I am finding this for myself, as well. I routinely beat the 1200 and 1300 level bot, and cant beat players rated <600

I was so much better at chess when I only knew the basics. I always played the same way, and I improved and improved on that. Without knowing it was the queen's gambit, I fell in love with it. I played in a way where I sacrificed down because I find it easier to think when fewer pieces are on the board. Now I'm trying to learn chess and theory, and I feel like I'm going to be learning for years before I can play as good as I once did.

It is occurring like I'm actually getting worse at this game the more I play. My rating is terrible and diminishing, my stats on daily tactics are also dropping.

Is this normal?

GM's must have very very high IQ's because I feel really stupid."

Yea I play 1 game every day but before that I warm up with puzzles, day by day every day I keep getting worse and worse I don't understand, and its really aggravating me to the point where I don't even enjoy it anymore...

You can expect to have some ups and downs out of nowhere - even Magnus Carlsen said that he occasionally experiences/experienced random ups and downs - he suggests that you take a short break. Anywhere from 30 minutes to a month, just make sure you feel ready once you're back in the game.

I was hoping to put on about 100 elo a year from about an 1800 base, but can't say I'm much better three years later. meh
