Might as well bring this one back into the mix.
The personality of a D4 player

What is d4

The d4 player is passive, yet deadly. They lure their opponents into a false sense of "safe" chess and then explode down the queen side and rip into the king side until the very foundation of their opponents has fallen. Of course most are nice though haha

What a stupid thread... a 1300 player, who doesn't understand anything, talks about "personality" of a d4 player )))

1. a4 : Rookies who try to pull the rook next.
1. b4 : Poles who want to enjoy chess with extra spice.
1. c4 : Birds who love to fly.
1. d4 : Demons who love to watch the world burn.
1. e4 : Gentlemen who stick to unwritten treaty.
1. f4 : Nobody.
1. g4 : Gypsys who enjoy their lives.
1. h4 : Coaches who are trying to teach their students.

Birds play 1.f4 actually (and 1.f4 is played by birds).
1.c4 is for thea enthousiasts.
And you did not talked about knight moves

Knight moves, right.
1. Na3 : Na and 3 other letters, s, t, and y.
1. Nc3 : For people who are afraid of the Poles.
1. Nf3 : For ghost riders who goes 2. d4.
1. Nh3 : As stinky as NH3.

Not passive, but it can sometimes lead to a closed game at first since e4/e5 usually aren't immediately played because of the d4/d5 pawns. This means some maneuvering is required. I hated 1.d4 when I first started playing chess because my typical instinct was to develop all my pieces immediately, castle, and then attack the king. This is not as simple when the game is more closed.

Since at least the turn of the 20th Century, games starting 1.e4 e5 have generally involved a good deal of strategy and maneuvering too
Yes high level modern e4 games typically have strategy and maneuvering, but I think lower level e4 games still focus mainly on Italian game setups with pressure on f7 and quick development/attacking.

the best way to know someone is to become them , vlad as duke nukem rightly said
"i must become the thing i hate "
spend a month studying and only playing 1 d4
every opening in chess has weakness and strength , learn both

Really? So a 1300 player doesn't have the ability to understand chess is thar right? When's the last time you played one?
A week ago, when I created my account... but I played a few games, because my rating went up fast.
p.s.: you just said d4 is "passive".. that shows how much YOU understand ))
