Hey, I know this is controversial, but just felt inspired to express what I consider to be a serious psychological downside to the chase for higher Elo: that is, the hollowness of genius (https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueFilm/comments/110k142/t%C3%A1r_as_a_meditation_on_the_hollowness_of/); the way being a genius can separate you from others (https://www.mensafoundation.org/the-curse-of-genius/). Which happens all the time in domains such as chess, especially since it's likely that none of the in-person chess players I have social access to will ever be able to bond/converse with me over chess on a more-than-superficial level.
