This site has a bunch of members that don't rematch.

I never accept rematch requests from members but always makes sure to pm degrading and insulting remarks about their chess to them
It drives them nuts.
This is what any loser deserves for requesting a rematch.
I also report them for engine use and bad behaviour.

Exactly Nelson, it is the type of bad form one can expect from a rematch requester.
They just have no style.
As silly as this is, its clear it rubs a lot of ppl the wrong way when someone declines a rematch. So I suggest the perhaps chess.com could look at a new 'match' feature where you could seek a match. It would involved pre-setting the no. of games you would like to play against whoever is your opponent.
So if someone is that keen to have multiple pops at the same opponent they could select 2 games in the match and only someone who has also similar setting would be paired to play. So you both play 2 games (or 4 or 6) as part of the match and then be on your way.
If one of the player abandons the match mid-way the other wins all the games that were left in the match and gets elos accordingly.
So in a 4 game match one of the player bails after the 1st game then the next three games are given to whoever stayed and elos given accordingly for him having won 3 games straight against that opponent.
Of course there should be a feature that allows players to shorten the match mututally. So if say two players are playing a 6 game match and after 3 games they feel they have had enough then they could both select the end match button and the game ends.
I think all rematch threads (esp. this one) are nonsense. However if players feel that strongly then this could be looked at. Perhaps as a paid members only feature.

@JayeshSinhaChess That seems like a better idea than most of the others people have. Making it an option to agree to a preset number of games higher than 1 before you start seems like a nice option to have, especially for those complaining about people declining rematches. As for that, currently when you accept or seek for a game, you are only committing to ONE game. If both players want another they can rematch, but otherwise nobody is forced to.

Don't be such a sore loser. They still won. Wether by time or not.

Pro Tip for all those wanting to get more rematches.... FIND YOUR RESIGN BUTTON!.... I’ll gladly grant rematches if my opponent resigns in a hopeless position... but if you waste my time proving I know how to convert in a 5+ pt advantage.... I’ll be gone before you realized you’ve been mated...
Also.. I play blitz time controls because I can get take a quick mental break, get my 'chess fix' in under 10 minutes and then move on with my workday.

@JayeshSinhaChess and @EndgameChessMaster: I like the idea of a seek that specifies either a single game or a match (of a certain number of games). But how about going one step further and eliminate the rematch challenge feature altogether? Then the player who wants a rematch would have only himself to blame if he put in a seek for a single game instead of a match.
Of course that is also the downside. Rematch whiners would have nothing to gripe about. But then again, they'd come up with something.

You're right. The upside is you'd be able to play a match (say best of 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10) if you prefer but the downside is you would wait longer for a match than a single game. I think it's a good idea and not because it would satisfy rematch whiners. It wouldn't make them stop griping. It would be cool to play a match once in a while.

I think the idea of having the option to schedule a precise number of matches is ok. You want to use it, you may do it. If not, you may always have just one encounter. This will just add functionality to the site. However, punishing someone just for not agreeing for a rematch is another story. There are situations when you have to leave after a match (simply you took a break of several minutes and have to return to some activity). there are also situations when the opponent simply does not deserve a rematch. Myself, for example, I do not award a rematch to someone who tries to win on time while he/she is a queen or two rooks down. Simply because I consider it an unfair behaviour. There are also situations when the difference of the two opponents' level is too obvious.

there are also situations when the opponent simply does not deserve a rematch.
I agree. One of those situations occurs when the opponent requests a rematch. I won't give anyone a rematch who requests it.

@FBloggs that's an interesting idea you have there, however, I'm not sure it is necessary to create such extreme measures. If the whining still causes problems, it can be considered.
Don't feel rematch needs to be done away with. I am sure there are many who play long matches and just hit rematch at the end of it.
Alternatively, in settings there could be a feature of something like auto-reject rematch requests, and a small red icon next to name of the player who has selected this feature to let whoever he is playing know that rematches aint happening.

One of the qualities of a good chess player as well as technical ability is emotional stability. The cry babies who demand rematches lack this emotional stability and forever will not progress beyond a certain point.

I usually give the rematch but there are times that is just not possible or that I alredy click search another game, if you lose and he doenst give you rematch dont be mad, just relax and play other game, is not a big deal
