If you get into the same position three times in a row, than it is a draw...
No, the positions don't have to appear "in a row," they can happen at any time.
The draw has to be claimed, and note that "position" here has a very broad meaning beyond the arrangement of pieces on the board; the side to play and the legal moves available must all be the same as well.
Hairhorn is correct; also in OTB, you must keep score in order to claim 3-repeat draw.
