Many years ago, I acquired a book that discussed these basic elements of the game of chess. Chessmicky identified it as "New Ideas In Chess" by GM Larry Evans.  This single book helped me understand the game more than all the other books I have read on the subject. Many of the people I have played here do not have an understanding of these elements. I would ask that we seriously discuss these elements here for the purpose of instruction. . If you would please, in your explaination of each element show positions/diagrams demonstrating the element with supporting analysis. While I have not yet figured out how to insert a diagram I will be doing so soon. If nothing else, give us your ideas on what each entails. Thank you.
