I think OP give up since she not here in months.

if i could do it over, i would probably look for a chess chick. while it's good somethimes that mine isn't (god forbid they get better than us!), it'd be nice to be able to share my passion for the game with a loved one. 

plus, it'd save me a ton on gas from going to the club because i could stay home and play blitz w/her.  :P

i'm guessing you've never heard of vera menchik, the polgar sisters, or any of the other real IM or GM strength women playing now days.
