what happened was you ran out of time in the game (or at least that's what the system says) but since black didn't have enough material to mate you he can't win the game on time.  So the result is a draw.

According to a rule which is valid only in blitz, when you time out you lose only if your opponent has enough material to  mate you.

In this case the computer is not saying that you had insufficient material to mate (you have definitely enough material); it is saying that during the disconnection your time went to 0 but thanks to this rule the game was counted as a draw since your opponent had not enough material to mate you.

excuse me...

I didn't catch a thing of hat you said in that post..

you said your internet broke down. During that time your clock was running and all your remaining time went wasted. Normally you should have lost on time but being that a blitz game there is a special rule which says

"when you consume all your time you lose only if your opponent has enough material to  mate you. If that is not the case the game is counted as a draw."

Since your opponent was reduced to a bare king, the game was rightly counted as a draw. With a longer time control, your opponent would have won on time.

Since i'm not a native speaker my explanation might not be very clear. Maybe someone else can explain the issue in a more undersandable way. Anyway the basic point is that nothing wrong happened, the game was rightly adjudicated as a draw accorting to the rules.

You should have lost on time (due to your disconnection which used up your time), but, you were lucky:  your opponent did not have sufficient material to checkmate you and the site declared the result as merely a Draw.

If your opponent had even one pawn left on the board, you would have lost on time.

Thanks for the kind words, although i would rate my english "not that bad" at best rather than perfect Tongue out

While the connection was still lost, you ran out of time. Your opponent didn't have enough material to mate you (if you played the worst possible) therefore he didn't win because you ran out of  time and it was a draw

@bresando:  I said your English was "perfectly clear" not that it was "perfect". There is a subtle difference Wink.  Seriously it really is better than "not that bad".

your english was actually amazing, it was just that I was just being lazy and not interpreting the message the right way.

sorry guys.

btw, did you like the game?
