The USCF is running an oral history project, but the number they give on the official web page is 1-877-480-1935 https://new.uschess.org/news/us-chess-oral-history-project. The number you've given above is different, so it could be a phishing scam where they've just changed the number to their own scam site. Would be best to contact the person on the USCF web page to verify whether that's the case if you're interested in responding - let us know what he says.
US Chess Verification Card Mailed out?

I got it and called.. they pulled some scammy strategies to sell me something for over $500 that included a tshirt and sweater and maybe some book and asked for my credit card number without asking if I actually wanted it. Very advanced salesman crap that I don't fall for. When I said no thank you she started offering a payment plan. It was tough to get off the phone. The verification was not real.. just an excuse to get you to call.
Has anyone else received a postcard in the mail from the US Chess Federation, asking them to call 1-877-487-4282 to verify their identity? What is this, and what happens if I don't respond (cause I assume its a scam of some sort).
