Very nice 5th game! I wonder if there is any way me and ezani could work together to play against you, because that would be interesting.

If you want to collaborate with ezani on a game that would be fine. Maybe we could set up 2 clubs and play a vote chess match. That could be interesting.

It would, really!

I can't create clubs though because I'm not a premium member. Maybe you and ezani could just message each other to discuss moves in a daily game. You can see if ezani would be interested in the idea.

Game 6 has been added.

Thanks Michael!

It's purpose is help beginners or under 2000 rated players improve their game.

Much like your blog post on kingside pawn structures post castling. You didn’t really have to post it, but you did. Why? Probably for same reasons...it can be helpful.

Wow someone actually read it. Anyway I think it's way different, it's hard to learn from a 1200's mistakes

@Im_just_bad

The point of this post is to help lower rated players. You might not find it very useful but other players will.

7 games so far

@Vicariously-I has annotated 7

@ezani has annotated how many?

You can learn a lot from your own thoughts. Someone else can also learn from your thoughts. More so about your thought process, or lack of a structured one.

Yeah I think it would be a good idea for ezani to share some of his thoughts about the games.

ezani

Ok I'm annotating.

MOVES 1-3 After Richard's Reti Opening, I met it with d4 and I took Richard's advice of placing my Knight on the more active g6 square. I've played many d4 openings with Richard but placed my Knight on the weaker d7 previously.

ezani

MOVE 4 I decided to go for an agressive Bg4 as I was pensive that my Bishop and Knight would be forked as before or that my Bishop would be trapped. At the very least, I could take the opponent's Knight.

ezani

MOVE 7 Upon h3, I desperately wanted his Knight but I remembered Michael's advise that taking his Knight would make his b2 Bishop stronger and would weaken my light squares as I lose my LSB. After Michael's patient and consistent advise (thanks Michael I appreciate it), I now have a stronger inclination to hold on to my two Bishops!

ezani

MOVE 8 Darn! I trapped my Bishop without realising it! I had yearningly wanted to move it to d7 (and this would be my standard move in all my previous games) but this would block my Queen's defence of d4. I even contemplated Bc8 but felt it ridiculous to have the Bishop back on its original square after so many moves and throw development in the dumps. I was regretting not taking his Knight, at least I wouldnt be giving a 2200+ player a minor piece advantage which is kiasu!

ezani

My reluctance for Bd7 was also upon seeing Michael's games against holograph wars and g100m (did I get those nicknames correct) that you dont want to be having your Bishop blocking your Queen defending your central d4 pawn.

ezani

MOVE 9 Darn! How could I have missed g5 to save my Bishop? What a poor chess player I am. As for pawn structure, I'm really sensitive to spoiling it meaning I do not like spoiling it with overlapped pawns. After all is said and done, next time I may just play the most conservative Bd7 or just take out his Knight.

ezani

I have constantly been reminded of the golden chess advise "Don't trade pieces when you're down on material" but I thought letting Michael have all those Queen, Rooks and Bishops with a minor piece advantage would have been kamikaze. I was extremely surprised (and pleased?) that I was able to trade off all minor and major pieces with Michael leaving him with only a Knight advantage and +2. I THOUGHT THIS WAS MY BEST CHANCE TO DRAW BUT IT ALL DEPENDS IF MICHAEL IS ABLE TO PLAY ACCURATELY. Also if you removed all the pawns, he wont be able to mate me with just a King and Knight but alas... wishful thinking???

ezani

What do you call those pawns one on top of the other? Doubled pawns yes! I meant doubled pawns not overlapped pawns sorry.

ezani

MOVE 24 ONWARDS At around Move 24, my strategy was to have my King at b5 in tandem in between my a5 and c5 pawns which were fairly advanced to have one of them queened and this would mean a face off with Michael's pawn trio on a2, b2 and c2. I didnt concentrate on this objective but moved h6 and trying to protect my other isolated pawns from his Knight.
