Yes.  This impersonator abandoned his account 5 years ago.

@batgirl

If this account is indeed an impersonator it should be banned.

This person has already claimed in the forums that he the real Garry Kasparov.

The concern here can be that if he can convince beginners and low rank players that he IS the real person and then starts charging them hundreds of dollars for coaching, not saying that he will or is, could be very hurtful not only to the players but to this site as well.

Just a thought.

LOL nice troll thread!!!

Hexerie

His account has been removed.

Like I said in another thread that has also been removed, chess.com would ban him if he was not the real Garry Kasparov.

Thank you Chess.com

You have great ratings for a new player. NM is national master 2200, IM is international master, I think that's something like 2350 to 2500, and GM is grandmaster and that's typically 2500+
I could be wrong about the ratings

About the ratings of IMs and GMs, you are describing the rating where  a lot of them are, To become IM you need to visit 2400 and do three IM-normwinning tournaments. Of course many IMs slip down to below 2400, and the ambitious ones rises higher. To become GM you must win three GM-norms and touch the 2500 ratings. FM doesnt require any norms, You get it when touching 2300.

The accounts are all real - identity is another matter however ...

Hello Garry!  I met a world champ once, Tigran Petrosian, at the second Piatigorsky Cup in Santa Monica (as well as future champions Spassky and Fischer).  Much much later when I was a wine country lawyer and you were about to play a game against the entire world voting on moves, our local newspaper's chess reporter inquired of the 4-5 most prominent players in the area, who will win the game?  We were unanimous and we were right.  I was quoted in the paper "Chess doesn't lend itself to democracy very well."  I see that on chess.com there's a button for "voting chess".  VOTING ON CHESS MOVES IS A DUMB IDEA.  It means that my vote counts just as much as yours, which is suboptimal for the objective of winning chess games.
