dolphins, i guess because they are considered to be the most intelligent animals after human beings by many scientists and they are also called non human persons.

Yes...well I've also heard the pig is the second smartest being after humans?? I guess that there are lots of ways to see wich animal is the smartest, but I have see (I think) at least 3 posts that says : ''smartest animal'' and all 3 had a diffrent animal! :)

An Octopus would be pretty good at blitz.
A slug because it would slime all the pieces so it's opponent wouldn't want to move.

I thought so too. however Chimpanzees are the most intelligent.
Pigs are more intelligent than dolphins.

Most common animal playing chess today: the Jackass. After that, the Strutting Peacock, with his distinctive cry of "patzer, patzer, patzer". The Pileated Clockbanger, who becomes the Crestfallen Parakeet when you snaffle the rook he left en prise. The Slow Loris, up a Queen with mate in 3 when his flag falls.
The only animal worth a damn for playing chess is clearly the horsie...
