Fact: Some people will never reach 2000 no matter how hard they try!

@GhostNight, 9/10 tournament players never break 2000 USCF.

If you work on your opening repertoire and study chess, 2000 FIDE is achievable in three years

What is your FIDE rating?

It's like the same as USCF rating, but it covers countries outside the USA, it is probably a better system to measure your worldly rating.

Not even checking every page, I already see 3 of my past accounts have commented here. Kinda interesting.

Clever way to try to get free analysis. You put a link with analysis in it, and if a premium member clicks it, then it will be automatically analyzed for you.

Ok, been playing chess for long time now..my uscf rating is 1585 my highest is 1591..played in many tournements World Open..etc got serious with chess about 5 years ago..the normal Uscf rating is 1600-1700 so i guess i suffer from a mental disability or am i not studing the right things? and i used to boast well my rating is only 1500 but really  1800 strength...Well i found out the hard way i was a miserable 1300 ...anyway ive seen some real 1800-2000 uscf not even know how to checkmate properly with a king bishop and knight! and one TD how to draw against king and pawn..im open to about any suggestions...

What does it take to get to 2000 uscf? is it a special gift the player has or is it just many games?

did you get there yet

I dont see the point of getting to 2000....its really just a number isnt it? Im not saying getting to 2000 is easy but I dont know of any special events you will get invited to if you manage to get to 2000. I think a better goal is to get to 2200 at least then you can play in some master only events and with a lttle more work maybe a title and you can play in the titled tuesdays tournaments on chess.com.

Not to me. Reaching 2000 wouldnt change my chess life much. I guess I could then play in the open section of the Georgia State championship but 1900 would also do that. 2200 would open more doors for me, so until I attain that chess is more about enjoying the journey than getting to some number.  I am kind of curious what the appeal of getting to 2000 is for other players, so if someone can comment why 2000 is the number that so many players strive for as opposed to some other number like 1900 or 2100 or something.....that could be interesting.

My comments might seem a little harsh to those trying to get to 2000, so let me say I dont mean to offend anyone.....Im just cuious to know if there is some reason why 2000 is the number many players strive for. I also think that overemphasis on ratings is a problem in todays game.

so...did you ever reach 2000+ otb? if not, then a good reason why 2000 is a big milestone is so that those can say their rating starts with a 2, something that u2000 players never get to say.

Great reply, I agree, and 2000 may just be out of reach for most players!!!
