That is way too long!!!
What I wished I knew before I started playing 1|0 Bullet
That is way too long!!!
I just couldn't even read it. Between the length and the format...not a shock that this came from a 1/0 bullet player's fingers.
I know!!! I am a little embarrassed!
... what? I think premoves should be allowed as in OTB you can read what your opponent is going to do and react accordingly. This is that but online.
That is interesting because I hadn't thought about that.
Adding on to this, you need to make it a habit to check both your opponent's and your clock times. A lot of decisions in bullet are influenced by the clock.
Also, don't play on a trackpad (I use trackpad and it sometimes randomly freezes during a game. It's also just really slow in general.)
Honestly, any mouse is better than a trackpad unless it's like an Apple mouse.
It's also just important to know where to put your king in bullet. During the middlegame, just keep it safe, and in the endgame, you want to premove it to squares where your enemy's pieces cannot attack immediately (in a time scramble) For example, in opposite coloured bishops you premove your king onto squares opposite colour of opponent's bishop. Against knights, premove the king to the opposite colour square the knight is current on.

I use apple mouse
ik that it is worse, but what makes it so bad exactly?
Idk, its just hard to hold - its completely smooth - and is pretty big (at least for my hand), so its hard grip and move around.

Mouse vs trackpad is an interesting discussion. But yeah, I constantly check both my and my opponent's clock times to see if I need to start spamming premoves or just have time to calculate. I don't even realize I do this until I register how much time we both have.
Yeah a mouse generally is better, unless you just have a small hand or have super quick fingers xD

Sir, i did check ur Bullet Stats... well thx for letting us to hear the Word of the Lord
I used to think Lightning was fast.
Oh dear, the terminology has changed, the nomenclature has changed. Do we call a maximum game of 10 minutes, a 5|0 Blitz game now?
Knowing the Lightning name probably indicates my age.
Does aging affect my hand eye coordination? Quickness is probably a virtue in 1|0 Bullet but not too quick you do the Botez Gambit.
Anyway, 1|0 Bullet isn't always polished play.
How can I improve my chances in 1|0 Bullet?
I mean online because I don't think I it would be very pretty me playing 1|0 Bullet OTB. The hand eye coordination thing, but I imagine my hand eye coordination may improve with playing 1|0 Bullet.
Is chess a sport in your country? I certainly think 1|0 Bullet is a sport.
MY TIPS FOR PLAYING 1|0 Bullet on chess.com
1 If you believe there is a high probability that your opponent will make a certain move, learn to hover your piece over the square you want to move to. Once your opponent has made his or her move click on the mouse.
2 Learn to hover and click when suitable.
3 Hover and click will not always be suitable. Your opponent may make an unexpected move that puts you under pressure. In which case, simply move the piece to a very nearby square but to where the piece can not make a legal move. The piece then automatically returns to where it came from.
4 I don't think I approve of pre moves, pre-moves but since some people use them on chess.com, learn about them. If you do use pre-moves be aware someone may anticipate it and take advantage and put your piece, en prise. ( I wish that pre-moves were not allowed, because you can't do a pre-move OTB.) I learnt about pre-moves because I was waiting for my opponent to start the game, the clock was clicking. So for amusement I wanted to see if I could move the pieces before the game started. You can! I didn't want to make a pre-move! Anyway I found out how to cancel a pre-move.
5 Avoid daydreaming during a 1|0 Bullet.
6 In a a 1|0 Bullet tournament be near a bathroom in case you need to... have a drink with you if you need it, it probably helps to get away from other people or tell them you are busy, turn off your phone maybe.
7 Physical and mental alertness are strong assets in 1|0 Bullet. I also imagine physical and mental alertness may get a real work out during a 1|0 Bullet game.
8 Time pressure is the name of the game. Don't be rattled especially when you are down less than 5 seconds. Sometimes you can win in less time than 2 seconds.
9 Don't be rattled or underestimate an opponent who plays a very unconventional opening. The time control is so fast that the holes in their unconventional opening may be easy to take advantage of even in blitz, but this is a 1|0 Bullet game.
10 What device are using? Do prefer a tablet, desktop, laptop, phone or.... The internet connection is really important in 1|0 Bullet.
11 My bullet rating will probably not impress you, so maybe I don't know what I am talking about!
I believe my mental agility has improved playing 1|0 Bullet.
I believe my powers of observation have increased remarkably. Not always, I have played the Botez Gambit in 1|0 Bullet.
