Chess is certainly one of the most mentally stimulating games ever. I enjoy finding patterns, executing tactics, and finding subtle ways of defeating opponents. Overall, Chess is fun :)
:O YOU GET STIMULATED by watching chess? (if ya know what I mean ;)) *shakes head*

I would say chess is my life, but as I am not a grandmaster yet, it would mean I don't HAVE a life.

Chess is the one hobby that I can absolutely LOVE and have fun with even though I stink at it. You can't say that about juggling, sword swallowing, or tightrope walking.

The 3 strategies (methodologies) employed as siege warfare on the chess board are: restrain, blockade, execute -- the enemy
The best book ever written on the subject is "My System", by Aaron Nimzowitsch
Chess for me is a mistress. She displays her wares and you easily get caught and lose sight of time. You can engage her long and hard as in standard, or fast like a whip or bullet, just the same the satisfaction you get from a win is the same. She is so complex it's just so hard to fully understand her nuances. Her temperament can be quite or aggressive but you have to be careful in your approach as their lay traps that are skillfully concealed. Just when you thought you've figured her out she will introduce a novelty and all your preparations goes awry! Oh to indulge her! as years and years pass by yet her beauty still remains. Ahh at last you're old and dying yet never coming close to conquering her, so you introduce her to your son hoping to continue where you left of and maybe just maybe He could finally master her....
I see. But, chess is so boring... how do you get good at it? I can't seem to master everything, so what's your tactics?
