🤔 its like a school grading system...you know...your school report cards...where consistent grades of above 95 % or +A grades, will regard you as class valedictorian...in professional chess and online chess...a higher performance rating or elo rating...will regard you as the strong chess player...

☝️🙄 but...here in chess.com, a consistent accuracy report grade of above 95% will regard you soon...as violator of fair-play policies...

Luckily this isn't true happy.png chess.com accuracy score (CAPS) has nothing to do with chess.com's cheat detection (which is much more sophisticated). chess.com is also coming out with an improved CAPS 2.0 (accuracy), but CAPS (1.0) is what we have now I believe.

Dangit (yeah, it's a word), I was getting ready to post a video by ELO.  I love that band.

I'm gonna post a video anyway.

Elo is the meaning of life. Mine hasn't improved in years, but I never lose hope!

Not Master Joseph Truelson

Elo is a last name and a rating system. Chess.com uses Glicko-1 Elo, which is a modified type of Elo.

Arpad Elo was a Hungarian-American math professor (Marquette University) in the mid-twentieth century. He developed the rating system all chess federations use today. It compares players and estimates their strength relative to the rest of the players in the system by comparing results--a person who wins most of their games will have a high rating while we hopeless patzers will remain low-rated. I'm not qualified to explain the details, but in general terms, it considers the strength of your opponents and how well you do against them. A very simple example: were you an unrated player who played 20 games vs opponents with an average rating of 1750 and won 7 games, drew six games and lost seven games, you would get a 1750 rating--scoring 50% vs 1750 players.
