Go is a chinese board game in which two players try to basically outflank and surround the other person's pieces. the pieces are basically checker like pieces and each player can put one piece per turn on a square like board (except with a lot more than 64 squares!) basically the game stops when all squares have been taken up. then, the person who surrounded more of the enemy pieces win. in order to surround a piece or pieces, you must have a piece on all four sides of the surrounded piece. kinda like

You don't win only by capturing more pieces, although beginners play that way.

The main goal of Go is to capture territory by creating borders and defending them from enemy pieces. A territory is any area of the board surrounded by pieces of one colour, and the opposing colour cannot capture any of those pieces to destroy that establishment. At the end of the game, the player with the the larger area in territory (counting the borders) win the game.
