I found Jade-Bot in the live chess computer section.

The site is implementing some Komodo accounts with "personalities" that play different than a standard stock instance of Komodo.

There are a number of them, but they aren't all active at the same time. I believe they are still testing them out.

In the beta forum it was stated there will be around 60 accounts. I think that may include the base ones we currently have and the personality ones, though I'm not 100% sure.

Some examples could be a bot that is an opening expert and they will always play book moves, up to a certain point. One could be really good at endgames. One of the bots apparently will trade pieces when possible.

They have some of them that have some programmed chat responses, one that apparently offers draws when losing, ones that play specific openings (the grob in one case).... there can be a lot of options other than just blanket limits on rating/depth.

I don't know what all options are being made available.

They are Live only and will be found in the vs Computer section of Live and you should be able to directly challenge the with a Custom Challenge like the current accounts.

I'm sure there will be some kind of announcement, but probably just part of the monthly update articles.

Will some of them have adjustments made so they can mimic the playing levels of lower rated players?

That was a part of how they are configured, or that is part of the attempt. The ones I saw previously, had a range of ratings.

For those interested in the new bots as well as Komodo, have now gathered info on all new computer bots and Komodo levels with ratings < 1000. A blog post is at: Man vs Machine, Initial Days of Computer Bots

I have now played many of the Komodo levels and bots in the mid-ranges of 1000 to 1700, and this has produced a great amount of information on the computer programs.  Data from those games is available at: Man vs Machine, Part II – the Mid-Level Bots.

Is it allowed to play against Jade-Bot in a Live Game? Is it really possible to get a rating when you play against a bot????? I hope not because then you can push rating and play against weak bots...

The web-site recently took the live play option with the computers away. You can still play the bots for training purposes. There are many new bots, too, and some are seasonal, such as the Santa Claus series during the holidays.

Levels 1-24 of Komodo are also available for practice and training. But Komodo Boss, Lc0, and Play Komodo are no longer available at all.

I love the bots.  I only looked at this because the name jade_bot.  I beat all the bots up to the one after her.  She took some time.
