I've played speed chess in bars, I've played chess at a backyard party (one my band was playing lol!), and I used to play it at work in a cheese factory with another guy from my club, until the (insert pretty word here) foreman made us stop. What a putz.

Girlfriends parents dining table. Definitely a strange place to play chess!
seems to get librarians really hysterical and angry.
I have so many stories..... where to begin ? Ok , I will start with my hometown Hardees which was open 24/7 at the time. A friend of mine used to come and play blitz with me most Friday evenings, we are both NMs and were then as well. We would often start at 6 PM and play through until the sun was coming up the next morning !! LOL Well, around 3 am as all the bars and clubs closed many drunks would come in to grab a bite to eat before going home to sleep it off.... this evening I will never forget.....one drunk wandered over to where we were playing blitz chess and after watching a few minutes we noticed he was looking at the clocks and his watch and comparing the times on the three !! LOL At one point between games he asked us : " Which one of those clocks is right?" Apparently he didnt trust his watch and wanted to set it by the chess clock. 
LOOOOLZ ya gotta love a good drunk now and again - classic story Reb! That is funny as heck.

I dont have many odd places, my magnetic board has taken me through plane and car trips. And I guess a lot of campouts haha.

My school I guess.
Waiting at a bus station (Nashville, TN)) you would not figure on a lot of chess players. I pulld out an old cardboard board and a zip-lock quart bag of pieces. I set it up on the bench beside me and started just trying to reproduce openings from memory. In 5 minutes a middle aged black guy (I'm white) started up a conversation and offered to play. While we played THREE ! more people of diverse backgrounds began watching and wanted to play the "winner" . I had another hour to wait on my bus but I found myself just part of the gathering of watchers while two strangers played chess on my board. I had a real thrill at how the chess had brought together about 6 strangers at an obscure bus station!

Me and my girlfriend in colloge, we went to this shopping center, there were stone chess boards all over the place. So, we played some chess, I took her bishop and forked her queen to his king. She looked embarrased, so I said it's okay. So she left the game, she went to a this woman clothes store, I chased after her, when I lost her, I never seen her again.

Playing girlfriends usually isn't a good idea, unless you are trying strip chess.
