The endgames comments are funny to me because I see the exact opposite, people who play as well or maybe a little better than me in the opening, the middle game, then suddenly in the endgame I wonder where that person wandered off to and why they left a beginner in their place….

I think a lot of ppl who concentrate on blitz in particular don’t know basic endgames.

Probably true... that would be strange though since dragging a worse position out into the endgame is a common tactic to flag your opponent, and good endgame skills are needed...

But maybe I’m the only one who went through silmans endgame course with the intention of playing faster in the endgame.

It’s ridiculously easy to cheese people in the endgame. In February I was playing in a tournament against this 1900 who missed many forced checkmates and went into an endgame with about a few minutes left on his clock, also up a good piece.

All i had to do was make him worried enough about my passed pawn, and then I traded rooks off and took his last pawn with my knight... so he had a bishop and knight vs a lone king with six seconds left, so a draw was agreed.

The reason this method doesn't usually work to "get out of a jam" is because the computer is planning on setting up a multiple-stage plan that if you used the computer for 1 or 2 moves, you would still probably not see the point of the moves.

So while I suspect it can help you out of a jam with a one or two move play in a game, I highly doubt you would be able to do well if you only did 1-2 moves per game in a jam because the computer is setting you up for long-term plans.

lol. Two years later, I show up to see what the deal is with smurfs and I see people making smurf accounts in order to find other smurfs. Definitely cannot take this site seriously.

You know the old saying:

It takes a smurf to catch a smurf!

... or was it:

You can't make an omelet without breaking legs!
