What to do in Closed Positions?

Recently, I lost a game with a closed position right from the opening. I lost because of time since at some point of the game I experience 'mental block' which led me to have random thoughts in my head ruining my focus and overthinking a move thus removing a big chunk of my time.

Now I am here, asking. What are some things I should do and Not do in closed positions? Either in endgame, Middlegame or Opening positions?

Pawn breaks are offers of trades between your pawns and opponent pawns by pushing your pawn

Also, u doubled ur rooks to attack the back of ur e pawn which was never gonna move again. Ur goal should be to create open lanes for ur pieces, it makes them stronger.

Closed structures often revolve around pawn chains. Identify potential pawn breaks (like ...c5, ...f5, or d4 breaks) that can open lines when the time is right.
