I am about to sum up all of my findings about chess in my life time. I have worked long and hard at chess I what I found may change the entire nature of the game. All of this can be summed of in two immensly powerful words...

Haha. Or smoke crack either I suppose. Or get drunk. I haven't followed that particular bit of advice, however. Been drunk a few games.
Another one of my favorite advice which I heard from Josh Waitzkin is, "Don't forget the space you leave behind".
Never give up do not look at opponent rating.
Always use your brain, otherwise you will lose. I have not done this many times, and lost.
Don't underestimate the endgame knowledge (or the speed) of 10 year old chess players. Been there. Done that.
Ignore Bobby Fischers non-chess expertise.
Don't quit your day job.
Believe it or not, in all my 60 plus years of playing--i was never given advice on anything regarding the playing of chess!
Before making a move, try to find your opponent's best response.
