Chess.com stopped censoring the word Lichess? Wow... forums have changed

Either that or #inb4thelock

Yeah, policy change more than a year ago - they finally realised they didn't need to feel insecure about it any more.

Chess.com is too greedy

yeah

And yet, you both continue to post on here.

Basic members can play games here, participate in the forums, join clubs. You don't want to pay for the premium features? That's fine. But expecting to get the premium features for free is not Chess.com being greedy, it's you being entitled.

I continue to post here, too, and I canceled diamond today. Maybe the two are connected. But some of those premium features really don't feel like entitlements.

For instance, this is what Game Review thinks of the Evergreen Game:

And this is what it thinks of my latest game:

I signed up originally for the videos and the lessons. I just ended up never using them. Which, my fault. There's stuff here that isn't there. Their video section is just curated YouTube videos. Their lessons and drills aren't as user-friendly. I think if both places were free, I would be here. Maybe. But then again, I had to pay monthly, and that's, what, fourteen dollars times twelve? So $168 a year? That's a whole lot of cash that I do not want to throw around, for something that I can get elsewhere free of charge. Is it really a question of entitlement to wonder why we're paying out to a place with a ton of overhead?

if you pay yearly it is 100$. just don't pay monthly.

Gold membership is also a third of the cost of Diamond, and lets you evaluate the lessons to see if you'd like to pay for more of them with Diamond. Or you can just use the free trial membership for a month and evaluate it in that month.

In some ways, the Premium membship is paying Chess.com for getting the stuff together in one place. Sure, you could go to other places and do the work and research yourself and save yourself that money: some people are happy to pay others what they feel is a relatively small amount and trust them to do that work for them.

The monthly is there for those of us who can't swing a one hundred dollar payment, especially if it's recurring. And it makes it seem like you're not really spending much. But why have to spend at all? Is it *really* worth a hundred dollars for a year? I think they expect money for services that don't really add up. If they needed all that to begin with, they wouldn't turn around and give it away in such large quantities to elite players.

I got a year of Platinum membership for 40.

Lichess is so garbage. You can't premove more than one move ahead and the rating system is screwed up, so when Im 2000-2200 on chess.com, I'm 2400-2500 lichess. I think lichess also has a horrible interface, it's impossible to read any stats or anything, and chess.com is just more compatible in general.
