There about equal, just different.

chessman82

Depends on who you ask. I like both but I think regular chess is more fun to play.

h777

I played regular chess more then chess960 so normal chess!

Well in chess-960 you can't really have a planned opening but in regular chess you can. My opening is Sealed [the smiley face means sealed].

Danconqueror

I would agree regular chess is on the whole more fun, yet Chess 960 can be definetely more fun at times.

both are so much fun.Cool

Have any of the 960 enthusiasts out there ever drawn the standard starting position and were you dissapointed when you did?

I once almost had the starting position but the knights were the wrong way around.

???

You mean, like, facing outwards?  :)

james12345678

that is impossible DeepGreen.

My openings (as mentioned above by james123...) are very planned in regular chess. I know what to expect from the opposition when I make a book move. In chess960, however, the openings are way too complex sometimes. Then you ask... is it worth my time to study this initial position because I'll probably never encounter this exact position again.

Anyways, I think regular chess is more fun but chess960 is a nice break from the norm. Right now I have more chess960 games running than regular ones.

Interesting very interrestin NinjaBear

I still prefer regular chess even though this is a good alternative. It has interesting positions but I prefer familiarity and I like studying known openings.

I was really surprised at how much I enjoy Chess960. I think I might like it better...

(for now)

No, the b1 knight was on g1 and the g1 knight was on b1. As a result they got confused during the game and the left-hand knight moved to a3 (endeavouring to hit f3) and the right-hand knight moved to h3 (trying to get to c3 like it usually does). I can tell you, it greatly inconvenienced me, but luckily I went on to win the game!

960 is better than standard chess! It's more challenging and it rewards the competitor with the best vision, not the best memory!
